FIRST Indiana Robotics would like to extend a huge, stage-rumbling THANK YOU to our 2019-2020 Student Board of Directors Members. On top of their academics and extra-curricular activities, this group of 7 seniors has been working on FIN projects together since the summer of 2019. They had a presence at the Statehouse as FIN was honored by Representative Sue Errington in House Resolution I. They’ve met with the Department of Education to advocate for FIRST programs, they’ve engaged our community in social media campaigns and planned a number of fundraisers and events.

These students handled the cancellation of their FIRST competition experience with true Gracious Professionalism. They’ve continued to help plan, host and guest speak on sessions of our Virtual Community Conferences to help keep our #FINFAM connected during this time.

Please join us in recognizing and congratulating our 2019-2020 SBOD graduates. We look forward to seeing them succeed in college, career and beyond!

Priya Una – Indiana University

Business Member, FRC 8232 Girl Gang

Former Member, FRC868

Two-year Member, FIN Student Board of Directors

Priya wants to tackle the issue of education disparities in STEM.  I want to “make learning more fun. Teachers aren’t paid enough [and] one test shouldn’t dictate a student’s future.” In the fall, she’ll be studying Finance and Technology Management at Indiana University.

Devon Langley – University of Evansville

Vice President of Business, FRC Girl Gang 8232

Former Member and Mentor, FLL100 Team Storm

Student Representative, Formalizing FIRST Alumni Recognition Working Group at FIRST HQ

Dancer and Teacher’s Assistant, Terre Haute Academy of Dance

“I would not be who I am today without FIRST. I believe every student should have the option to be involved with FIRST, but the fact is that not everyone has that opportunity. This bothers me. My dream job is to be a lobbyist for FIRST, because I could advocate for more funding in schools. The Every Student Succeeds Act: Title IV, Part A, allocates funds specifically for after school STEM programs, and schools could be using that funding for FIRST programs.” Devon will be studying Communications / Political Science at the University of Evansville.

Karen Wang – Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Captain, FRC 7617 The RoboBlazers

Karen is also passionate about solving education disparities. She says, “I want to help solve education inequality by incentivising teachers. Teachers aren’t respected like the necessity that they are.” In the fall, she’ll begin pursuing a Computer Science degree from MIT.

Ivan Lamb – University of Louisville

Fabrication Team Leader, GalacTech 4926

Former Member, Lego Lions from St. Peters Lutheran

School-to-Work Mechanical Engineer, Cummins Inc.

Ivan plans to tackle a FIRST-specific issue, by improving “communication between Indiana teams collectively (growing our knowledge base).” In the fall, he plans to study Computer Engineering at the University of Louisville.

Lucy Baker – Purdue University

Team Captain, 3940 CyberTooth

Former FLL Member, The Digital Disciples

“I wish to combine my love for STEM with my passion for helping care for people and find treatments and cures for diseases in the biomedical field. I want to help cure diseases or build technology that could cure them.” Lucy B. will be studying Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University.

Lucy Goode – Earlham College

Former member. FTC  13428
