FIRST Indiana Robotics Board Chair
The mission of FIRST Indiana Robotics (FIN) is to inspire young people to be science
and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in exciting mentor-based
programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills that inspire
innovation and foster well-rounded life capabilities, including self-confidence,
communication, and leadership. FIN is searching for a committed and experienced
individual to serve as the next Chair of our Board of Directors to provide leadership
and guidance in achieving our mission.
Duties
● Ensure that FIN is fulfilling its mission & vision
● Serve as an ambassador & representative for FIN at our competitions & other community events
● Prepare for & run board & executive committee meetings
● Provide oversight for other Board members & committees
● Support board member recruitment, onboarding, retention, and engagement efforts
● Provide direct oversight & support to the President
● Work with staff & volunteer leadership to address issues
Qualifications Required
● Knowledge of & involvement in the FIN community
● Previous management & leadership experience
● Able to contribute a personally significant mix of time, talent, and treasure to the organization Preferred
● 5+ years experience with all levels of FIRST programs
● Previous non-profit leadership & board service experience
● Strategic planning experience
Time Commitment
● 2-3 hours a week working with FIN staff and addressing concerns and Board business.
● 10-12 hours a month preparing for and leading board & executive committee meetings.
Board member terms are nominally 1 year, but we’re looking for someone willing to make a 2-3 year
commitment. Board members are term-limited to serve no more than 3 consecutive years in any one position &
no more than 5 consecutive years on the Board.
